Video cloning is the core feature of MakeInfluencers. This guide walks you through the entire process of taking any video and creating an AI-powered clone with your own character.

What is Video Cloning?

Video cloning takes a source video and recreates it with:

  • Your AI character instead of the original person
  • New or modified script matching the original style
  • Synced lip movements and expressions
  • Matching gestures and body language

The result is a video that captures the energy and style of the original, but features your unique AI persona.

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  • A MakeInfluencers account
  • A source video to clone (your own or properly licensed)
  • An AI character created (or use a default one)

For your first clone, choose a video that's 15-30 seconds with a single speaker facing the camera. This gives the best results while you learn the process.

Step 1: Choose Your Source Video

Finding Good Source Videos

The best source videos have:

QualityWhy It Matters
Clear face visibilityAI needs to track expressions
Good lightingShadows confuse face detection
Steady cameraMotion blur reduces quality
Single speakerMultiple faces complicate cloning
Clean audioBetter transcription = better sync

Upload Options

From your dashboard, click New Video and choose:

  1. Upload file - Drag and drop MP4, MOV, or WebM
  2. Paste URL - Works with TikTok, YouTube, Instagram
  3. Record - Use your webcam (coming soon)

The upload typically takes 30-60 seconds depending on file size.

Step 2: Review the Analysis

Once uploaded, MakeInfluencers analyzes your video automatically. You'll see:

Transcript

The AI transcribes all spoken words with timestamps. Review this for accuracy - you can edit any mistakes before proceeding.

Scene Detection

The system identifies:

  • Speaker segments
  • Scene changes
  • Key moments and transitions

Style Analysis

The AI detects:

  • Speaking pace (words per minute)
  • Tone (energetic, calm, professional, casual)
  • Gesture patterns
  • Facial expression tendencies

Analysis typically takes 1-2 minutes. You'll see a progress indicator while it runs.

Step 3: Choose Your Character

Select which AI character will appear in the cloned video:

Using an Existing Character

If you've already created characters, select one from your library. The preview will show how they'll look in this video's context.

Quick Character Creation

Need a new character? Click Create New to:

  1. Upload reference images
  2. Set voice parameters
  3. Define personality traits

For detailed character creation, see our Custom Characters guide.

Step 4: Customize the Script

The AI generates a new script based on the original video. You have full control:

Keep Original

Use the exact transcription from the source video. Best for:

  • Recreating your own content with a new look
  • Testing the cloning process
  • When the original script is perfect

AI Rewrite

Let the AI create a new script matching the original's style. Options include:

  • Same topic, new words - Fresh take on the same subject
  • New topic, same style - Apply the energy to different content
  • Adjust length - Make it shorter or longer

Manual Edit

Write or paste your own script. The AI will match lip sync and timing to whatever you provide.

Step 5: Generate Your Clone

Click Generate to start the cloning process. The AI will:

  1. Render the character into each frame
  2. Sync lip movements to the audio
  3. Apply expressions matching the tone
  4. Blend edges for seamless compositing

Generation Time

Video LengthTypical Time
0-15 seconds1-2 minutes
15-30 seconds2-4 minutes
30-60 seconds4-8 minutes
1-3 minutes8-15 minutes

You can close the browser - we'll email you when it's ready.

Step 6: Review and Export

Once complete, preview your cloned video. Check for:

  • Lip sync accuracy - Does speech match mouth movements?
  • Expression naturalness - Do emotions look right?
  • Edge quality - Any visible artifacts around the face?
  • Audio quality - Is the voice clear and natural?

Export Options

Download your video in:

  • MP4 (1080p) - Best for most platforms
  • MP4 (4K) - Higher quality, larger file
  • MOV - For professional editing software
  • Direct share - Post to TikTok, YouTube, or Instagram

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Lip Sync Looks Off

  • Check the transcript for errors
  • Ensure audio is clear in the source
  • Try regenerating with adjusted timing

Face Looks Unnatural

  • Source video may have poor lighting
  • Try a different character
  • Check that face is fully visible in source

Generation Failed

  • Video may be too long (try under 60 seconds)
  • Source quality may be too low (try 720p+)
  • Try uploading a different format

If issues persist, contact support with your video ID. We can diagnose specific problems with your source material.

Best Practices

  1. Start short - Master 15-second clips before attempting longer videos
  2. Check the source - Quality in = quality out
  3. Review the transcript - Fix errors before generating
  4. Use good characters - Well-defined characters produce better results
  5. Iterate - Your first clone may need adjustments
